Our Role

Your financial adviser will have referred you to Dolmans because you wish to enter into an equity release and he/she is confident of the excellent service we will provide you, and that we work well with them as part of your professional team. It is important to appreciate that we will not be advising you on the financial pro´s and con´s of the scheme, or to compare one scheme to another in the market place, as this will be the job of your own independent financial advisor.

The central role of Dolmans is to ensure that you fully understand the legal implications of the scheme your financial adviser has recommended, and to explain the details to you in plain English. In our view the best way to do this is to sit down together, either in one of our Cardiff offices or in your home. In the event of a home visit we will charge a small sum to cover our expenses and this will be explained to you in advance of our attendance.

Ryan, a qualified solicitor since 2004, and has 8 years experience of specialising in property law and in particular, equity release schemes. Ryan will be able to advise on all aspects of the transaction and will ensure that he is fully appraised of all your requirements.

Ryan is conscious that attending meetings can sometimes be daunting and prides himself on his friendly approach and ability to put people at ease.

Away from the office Ryan is a passionate follower of rugby and many other sports and enjoys spending time at the weekends with his young family.

Jo McGill Dolmanscropped

Jo McGill

Jo is a solicitor with several years experience specialising in private client law. Jo is a member of the Law Society Probate Section and a member of the national organisation Solicitors for the Elderly. She is also a Trustee of the charity Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Jo has worked as a university Law Lecturer, and often gives talks to health professionals and carers groups on developments in these areas of the Law.

Jo can assist clients with:

Jo aims to handle client meetings and contact carefully and sensitively, and can arrange to see clients at their homes if they wish.

Out of the office Jo enjoys travelling, running and struggling with her Spanish evening class studies.
