Bob Hulstrom: Financial Adviser and Equity Release Specialist in Cambridgeshire

I am aged fifty five and married to Jane, who is an Osteopath and runs her own business. She was my dream girl - being a true, blue-eyed blonde,and is very intelligent. Jane, sensibly, kept her own name when we married, as she stated that people could spell her name first time.On the other hand people do have tropuble with mine. We have a daughter, Victoria, who is a specialist Nursing Sister.

I am of Scandinavian stock, the name Hulstrom being Swedish.At aged 18 I asked my grandfather if he was sure we were Swedish, as I am dark haired and dark eyed, but he assured me that as a dark haired Swede I was a rarity and back `home` the girls would love it. The only problem, I reminded him, was that as he and my father forgot to teach us the Sven language it would make communication a little difficult.

I spend a lot of my free time in the political arena, and I am a local councillor. Although I think that my fellow councillor’s despair of me on occasions, as I do not often toe the party line. I believe that I have been placed in the position by the voters who feel I may have my own brain rather than have my thoughts dictated to me by head office.

I am a long serving member of my local Rotary club, and I see this as a way to put right some wrongs which have done to the many, by the few, in our society. I went to India as part of a Rotary team giving polio and diphtheria vaccinations to the children, which to be blunt is one hell of a harrowing task, but at the same time it was immensely fulfilling.

One of the ways I relax is to drive steam trains; the best being from Birmingham Snow Hill Station to Stratford Upon Avon. Even the drivers of the Virgin Express trains slow down and wave as they go past. Quite eerie!

I’ve also walked in many places across the globe; the most exciting walk being through the Venezuelan Jungle; which necessitated crawling through underground caves and rivers en route. I undertook the three peaks challenge in June.

With regard to business, I work as a fullyindependent financial consultant and equity release adviser and have my own practice. I am also a working IFA Partner of Positive Solutions - the largest National IFA.
